About Annotated

Annotated is apparel for people who can't leave a book—or a menu—unmarked. English teachers, reading specialists, librarians, editors, and anyone who's ever dog-eared a page mid-sentence because a thought needed capturing right then.

This brand has a specific origin story. My mother taught English for thirty years, and I graded papers alongside her before I was old enough to understand why the comma mattered. It clearly took because I'm still at it — except now I'm editing orders drafted by colleagues, and I've been formally accused of editing too much.

We started this brand for a very specific personality type: the one who reads with a pencil in hand, keeps a TBR pile that's basically a personality trait, defends the Oxford comma like it's personal, and gets genuinely excited about a well-placed semicolon or an unreliable narrator done right. This is close reading as a lifestyle, not a hobby.

We make apparel with the kind of inside jokes that only land if you've lived them—designs specific enough that the right person picks it up instantly, and everyone else has to ask. If that's you, or the person on your gift list who annotates their library holds list before the book even arrives, you're in the right place.
